Wainscoting: Wall Frames

Installing wainscoting in a room or hallway is a wonderful way to add character and charm to any home, old or new! It's a fairly simple project, but with dramatic results! It adds fabulous interest to the plainest of rooms! We chose the wall frame style, which gives the illusion of wood paneling.


Although I'm all about doing-it-yourself, we did hired some help with this project (simply because we have so much going on right now, we know an awesome trim guy, and you can often find me with a baby in each arm!). Though this it's definitely something you could DIY and tackle in a weekend. The cost for supplies will run you around $200 (more or less depending on the size of your room). If you decide to hire someone don't hesitate to get more than one bid. We payed $150 for labor and it was very well done (I told you he was awesome!). Although it's not exactly cheap, you get a lot of bang-for-your-buck!


Tools You'll Need:

• miter saw
• nail gun     ...that's all!

Tip: Start by calculating the size of your frames, then measure and mark the wall placement.

We painted the walls first (mainly because we were excited to see what the pink would look like), but we still need to paint them white below the chair-rail. Although we did consider (for a moment) leaving it pink around the frames, we decided having it all white would make a much bigger statement! ...That's my brother (Grant) in the photo above. He helped us with some painting and ceiling work.

I love it, love it, love it! A princess room for our little princess...
